Event
On Saturday, July 20th over 4,000 residents of New York City and the surrounding
region participated in "Listening to the City," an historic,
interactive 21st Century town hall meeting where they helped shape the
plans for the redevelopment of Downtown New York and the creation of a
memorial for 9/11.
"Listening to the City" - the largest forum of its kind - was
organized by the Civic Alliance to Rebuild Downtown New York (www.civic-alliance.org),
a coalition of more than 85 civic, labor, business, environmental groups
and academic institutions across the region, all committed to ensuring
that community voices were heard.
The Civic Alliance worked closely with the Lower Manhattan Development
Corporation (LMDC), the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the
City of New York and other public and private organizations involved in
the planning process.
ROLE's founder took part in this event as one of 500 facilitators. To
